Light Years Finale!

Wow! That is all that can be used to describe the book Light Years. Maya is so easy to relate to, and what she goes through in her life really makes you realize how much Americans take for granted. The book brings up many topics that just are not talked about in America. For example, we never talk about bombings, shootings, or anything of the sort, and if you do, you are considered a suspected terrorists. But in Israel and other countries the talk of those topics is normal and considered table talk.  Americans also take for granted the security our country has and the lack of worry when we go out at night or on the weekends. Israelis have the constant worry of where they are going might be attacked by a suicide bomber, or they might be shot by a sniper while walking down the street. It is also discussed in the book how the bombers and snipers have more power than just inflicting bodily harm, they also inflict mental harm as well. Almost every time the attack, one or more people become terrified to leave their homes and live their lives. Every time this happens, the attacker has successfully take another "life," even though the person didn't die, their soul died.
